About FluDrugStrategy

The objective of FluDrugStrategy project is to develop antiviral compounds that inhibit the influenza A virus using a novel drug development strategy.

The project combines knowledge based drug design and synthesis of compounds with unique patented image analysis and mathematical algorithm software to find and develop new types of potential antiviral molecules. The expertise and methodology allows for rapid discovery of lead molecules with the potential to provide new classes of drugs/vaccines that are less sensitive to viral mutation or reassortment.

The project will bring together experts from highly diverse fields in order to create a logical flow of work from the identification of small organic compounds that inhibit the maturation process; to the design and synthesis of these compounds and derivatives thereof; to the observation and analysis of the effects of these compounds on particle formation; to testing of their efficacy in combating the influenza virus, employing unique patented technology; and, finally, to the production of novel antiviral drugs.

The FluDrugStrategy project is a collaboration between academia and two biotech companies. Partners from: Sweden, Germany, Bulgaria and The Netherlands.
